Arizona Trip Part 2

Arizona Trip Part 2

Our first full day in Arizona was also Gus’s 5th birthday. It’s hard to believe he is 5! We didn’t find a dog bakery in Flagstaff, so we bought some birthday cookies before we left home. We did find Blue Bell ice cream cups in Flagstaff, so it was a full party!

We gave the pups a day off from riding in the car on Gus’s birthday, but the next day we loaded up and headed for the Grand Canyon.

Many years ago, my dad and I flew over the Grand Canyon on our of our Father-Daughter Flying Trips and of course, I’ve seen pictures of it, but seeing it in person, from the ground, was amazing. It was so much bigger and more impressive than I expected.

David dropped Gus, Kat, and me off at one end of the Rim Trail and headed back to park at the Visitors Center. He then met us back on the trail and we started walking the trail.

It was a great day to walk the trail because there was snow along the trail the whole way and it was not crowded at all. Kat really enjoyed the snow.

We walked about four miles of the Rim Trail, to the furthest we could go and David could still get on the bus to go back to the car. While we waited for David to get the car and come pick up the rest of us, Gus saw some mules that had been down in the canyon and two elk. Kat didn’t see either because after four miles, she took a nap (right next to the snow pile, of course).

Below are some pictures from along our walk of the Rim Trail. The canyon was especially pretty with the snow.

The last picture I’ll share is a blooper. It makes me laugh because all three of us have our eyes closed!
