Katherine Olivia (October 14, 2006 - September 24, 2022)
We said goodbye to our sweet girlie today. We’d hoped she would make it to her 16th birthday, but her body finally gave up on her.
Kat has been with us since a month before we got married and though many moves, trips, and other adventures. She’s lived in Fort Worth, Seattle, Charlottesville (VA), Lexington Park (MD), Pflugerville (TX), and Leander (TX). She also visited 37 states, including big cities like Washington DC, Philadelphia, New York, and Boston. Kat really lived life to the fullest.
She was the boss of the house and kept everyone in line, but also hated being alone. For the first 11 years, she had her best buddy Steve as a constant companion.
The last four and a half years, she lived it up with Gus and more recently, Milton. She made sure that Gus knew that she was the boss, but had a harder time convincing Milton. They still worked things out and had some good adventures together.
Kat was our cancer survivor, undergoing radiation and then surgery to enjoy an additional three years with us.
Kat was also my running buddy. She was the best training partner and could take a bathroom break without me ever having to slow down. When she was running, she was on a mission and didn’t think about anything else but the finish line.
Things will never be the same without Kat, but we hope she’s caught up with Steve and they are having a good wrestle session.
We love you, Kat.
