Chicago Girls Trip

Chicago Girls Trip

Last weekend, I went to Chicago with Mom, Kari, Kasyn, and Lakyn. We had a fun time, even if sometimes there was a lot of complaining about being cold or hungry!

On Friday night we had to get some Chicago deep dish pizza. Thanks to a work friend who used to live in Chicago, we knew of a good place and the pizza was tasty.

The next day it was time to go see Santa. Luckily he was spending the day at Macy’s! The girls were excited to see him and let him know what’s on their wish lists. Lakyn asked for a makeup table, but I’m not sure what Kasyn wants.

Just in case Santa wasn’t taking good notes, the girls followed up their requests in writing and dropped the letters off at the mailbox.

After Santa, we caught a bus up Michigan Avenue and got dropped off right in front of the American Girl Store. Lakyn was SO hungry, so we went and put out name in at a restaurant with good reviews on Trip Advisor. The wait was an hour and a half, so we headed back to the AG store to look around. Miraculously, Lakyn wasn’t hungry when we were in the store. Funny how that works!

The girls had fun at the store. They took their dolls to the doctor and found lots of things they wanted to buy.

Finally it was time to go eat. We really enjoyed our lunch. Lakyn has the most delicious looking plate — Oreo S’mores pancakes!

After lunch, it was back to the American Girl store for the girls to spend their gift cards. They had to make some hard decisions, but eventually they settled on some items. By that time, it was time for our tea party.

The tea party was pretty fun. Even the dolls got to participate.

The food was better than I expected, especially the dessert selection.

After the tea party, we planned to take a bus back to the hotel, but we waited forever and when it finally arrived, it broke down! So we decided to walk the mile back to the hotel. By the time we got there, we had one crying girl and one frozen girl. Luckily the hotel room was nice and toasty!

The next day we went up Willlis Tower to check out the views. It was a little hazy, so we couldn’t see super far, but we still saw a lot of the city.

Our last Chicago activity was ice skating. We went to the skating ribbon, which was fun because it wasn’t just a rink. Lakyn made it one time around. Kasyn did pretty good, especially once she let go of the side.

It was fun trip, though by the end of it I was ready to come home. It is much easier to have canine children! Not nearly as much complaining, especially not about being cold. 😀
