Vacation 2020 - Part 1
Last week we went on vacation. David and I have had two cruises cancelled because of COVID-19 and I was ready to get out of the house for a while. We thought long and hard about whether it was responsible to go anywhere and if we did, where to go. We decided to rent a cabin in Breckenridge, Colorado where we wouldn’t have much contact with other people, we could do outdoor activities, and it would be cool enough that Kat and Gus could also enjoy it.
We are lucky that Kat and Gus are really good travelers.
Kat settled in right away with her face smashed between the door post and my seat. I guess that’s comfortable??
The first day, we made it to Colorado Springs and spent the night. Gus had a hard time settling down in the hotel room. He asked David to go outside twice during the night. I slept through all of it!
The next morning, we took our time getting to Breckenridge because we couldn’t check into the cabin until 3 PM. I went for a run and was pleasantly surprised to still cover 5.3 miles in 45 minutes at 6000 feet! My Pelotoning during quarantine is paying off.
Once we got ready, we went to get breakfast at Denver Biscuit Company. We kind of stuffed ourselves, starting with a biscuit cinnamon roll.
The cinnamon roll was huge and really good. Then David got some French toast and I got a chicken biscuit. Kat and Gus did their best to be good restaurant dogs.
Kat did a better job than Gus, but she has more practice. Once the food arrived, Gus was more focused.
After breakfast, we headed to Breckenridge. I’ll cover that in the next post!
