Making the bed with canine assistance

Today Gus and I turned what should be a 5 minute task - making the guest bed - into a 20 minute task. If you have your own canine companion, you too can make your chores take four times longer!

Step 1: Get your canine companion to take up a large amount of space on the bed and refuse to get up.

Step 2: Decide that covering up the canine companion with the fitted sheet will annoy him so much that he will get off the bed on his own accord.

Step 3: Realize that the canine companion likes it under the fitted sheet.

Step 4: Finally get the canine companion off the bed and put the flat sheet on the bed, only to have the canine companion tangle himself in it.

Step 5: Repeat Step 4, but with the blanket. Get another canine companion to display good helping skills from the floor and hope that the one on the bed will take note.

Step 6: Convince the canine companion that something really interesting is under the bed. Rush to get the blanket on the bed.

Step 7: Convince the canine companion to go outside and look across the fence at the kids on recess. Rush back to the guest room to finish the job before the canine companion lets himself back inside, BECAUSE HE CAN OPEN THE DOOR HIMSELF!!!

Step 8: Realize that you should probably just watch TV the rest of the day.

Happy Thanksgiving!
