My first emergency vet visit

I was having a great day yesterday. Kat and I had a great chase session outside and then I had a relaxing evening inside while Mom and Dad caught up on some TV shows. About 9:00, Mom said she was tired and was going to go to bed, so Dad told all of us kids to go outside one more time. We all went outside and pretty soon, Mom said, "Doesn't it look like Gus's face is swollen?" Dad jumped into action, grabbed me, whisked me inside, and pinned me down so Mom could investigate.

I wiggled as much as possible, but Mom determined that (1) indeed, one side of my face was swollen; and (2) there were no puncture marks, so I didn't get bitten by a snake. (Mom's biggest fear since all the neighbors are posting on the neighborhood Facebook page about snakes ALL THE TIME!)

Mom got out her dog first aid books and convinced herself that I was probably going to die so Dad decided that they would take me to the vet. Off we went to the night vet. Mom and Dad had not been there before, but Mom navigated and Dad drove and we found it okay. All of the doctors and nurses there were very nice and thought I was very cute. (Side note - I gained 3 pounds since my last vet visit 10 days ago!)

It turns out that I got stung by a bee. The doctor got the stinger out of my lip and I got a steroid shot and some antihistamine. I had to stay in the exam room for 10 minutes just to make sure that the swelling was going down.

Then the doctor discharged me and we went home. I'm pretty much back to normal now. It was such a fun adventure, I'm trying to figure out what I can get into today!
