Getting Gus

Last weekend, Dad loaded up the car and Steve and I got in for a car ride. We always love car rides because it means new adventures.

We drove to Wichita. We stayed at the Drury Inn in downtown along the Arkansas River. We really recommend the hotel. It was very nice, dog friendly, and there are great walking paths on both sides of the banks of the river. We took advantage of the paths the next morning.

After our nice walk, we took a drive around Wichita. Mom showed Dad some of the sights from when Mom spent a summer in Wichita as an intern at Cessna Aircraft Company. Then we drove over to Longhorn Steakhouse to meet our Missouri grandparents and our cousin, Special K, for lunch.

Longhorn wasn't open yet, so Special K entertained everyone by making them do footraces.

After lunch, we drove to Braums. Steve and I were pretty excited because I've heard they have delicious vanilla ice cream there. Unfortunately, we did not get any vanilla ice cream. Instead, we picked up Gus. I was not happy that Dad was holding Gus.

I was not happy that my Missouri grandpa was petting Gus.

I was happy that Special K didn't want to take her picture with Gus. At least someone is loyal to me!

Finally Gus got in MY car. That's right, he invaded my space and was in my car. I growled at him for a good hour after we hit the road to head back to Texas.

Eventually I decided that maybe if I pretended that he wasn't there, he would disappear.

He didn't disappear. He came with us all the way to Texas.

What is a girl to do? Stay tuned...
